The majority of European Medical Organizations (EMOs), including CEOM, have adopted a joint statement emphasizing the central role of physicians in coordinating multidisciplinary care. Accurate, individual diagnosis of a patient and clear communication of the consequences of that diagnosis are key steps in that patient's care. The EMOs underlined the fact that individual steps and procedures leading to an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment can be safely delegated to other healthcare professionals within clear guidelines. However, only comprehensive medical training offering integrated understanding is essential for proper care coordination in teams made up of several healthcare professionals.
