European Network of Medical Competent Authorities (ENMCA) Briefing - Professional Qualifications Directive - March 2013

The European Network of Medical Competent Authorities (ENMCA) released a briefing on the report adopted on January 23rd, 2013, by the Internal Market committee on the Professional Qualifications Directive (2005/36/EC).

The World Medical Association turns to Members of the European Parliament - February 2013

The WMA, to which several CEOM participating organisations belong, addressed Members of the European Parliament on occasion of the committee reading of a draft Regulation on Clinical Trials. The new regulation would no longer require the consent of an ethics committee before trials could start testing new drugs on humans. WMA President Cecil Wilson highlights on his blog the essential role of ethical committees in responsible clinical research.

CEOM Declaration - Proposal of the Greek delegation

During the CEOM plenary meeting held in Brussels on November 30, 2012, the participating organisations adopted a Declaration on the situation of healthcare in Greece.

Joint Statement of the EMOs on the review of the Directive 2005/36/CE

The European Medical Organisations (EMOs), including the CEOM, adopted in August 2012 a Joint Statement on the proposal for amending the Professional Qualifications Directive 2005/36/EC on the recognition of the professional qualifications.

Proposal for modernising the Professional Qualifications Directive 2005/36/CE

On 19th December 2011, the European Commission has publised its legislative proposal for modernising the Professional Qualifications Directive (Directive 2005/36/EC). Read the proposal.

The proposal builds on a Green Paper the Commission issued in June 2011. All the responses to this Green Paper and a summary of the responses have also been published. Access the answer of the Network of Medical Competent Authorities and all the other responses on the European Commission website.

Biomedicine : France ratifies the Oviedo Convention

20.12.2011. On 13th December the French Minister in charge of European Affairs, Dr. Jean Leonetti, signed the so-called Oviedo Convention on Human Rights and Biomedicine. This international Convention will enter into force in France the 1st April 2012. The same day, M. Leonetti signed moreover two additional protocols to this Convention: one on Transplantation of Organs and another one concerning Genetic Testing for Health Purposes.
